Swagger.1459:

Any plans to allow individual players more transparency with their numbers and data in the form of detailed combat charts along with heal, damage, threat meters? Like a personal use skada or recount type app?

I’m talking personal use, not group monitoring stuff.

I believe having more access to numbers would be great considering roles and gear are becoming more important for end game stuff like raids and fractals. It would also help players provide accurate and factual feedback to developers about skills and powers. Bug detection could be made easier for players too… Having more transparency would definitely be a benefit to both players and developers.

Lawton? Pat? Cliff? Stephane? Somebody? Anybody?

There aren’t well-defined plans for it, no. If there were it’d be under the big ball of “have the game client provide a websocket-based service for local applications” but that’s kind of a large undertaking and a bit outside the purview of the web team. We’re mostly focusing on JSON-REST endpoints for now, which have the unfortunate drawback of being totally unable to provide real-time data.

Swagger.1459:

I see, thank you very much for the reply.

Well hopefully someday it could be a consideration despite the undertaking it would impose. Perhaps some gem purchases could help get that ball rolling on getting those websocket thingamajiggers ready sooner than later

Mr. Campbell I don’t think that you don’t know that there are adons that have the exact same functionality that mr. Swagger.1459 wants, of course they are illegal to use. ¿Can you openly say that those particular adons are OK to use? (you can pick one specifically). It can save yourselves the hassle of making one from scratch, and the people using them, the fear of being banned for it.

I haven’t used one of those just because that fear (even though i doesn’t give you any advantage over other players), but i might be tempted to use it, if I plan to go raiding.

Thank you.

Swagger.1459:

Well, if it is indeed already possible, then the journey is already halfway there. Devs can make a better path to access realtime stats, while aspiring programmers do the “heavy lifting” and create the legit personal use app.

The game client exposes some of this data to specialized Logitech keyboards. You can tap into this data by replacing Logitech’s DLL with your own DLL.

Here’s an example of an app that does this: http://www.gw2hud.com/

That’s pretty cool.
